About Watertree Press

Watertree Press is a new Christian publishing house dedicated to quality non-fiction works that fulfill our motto: Read. Think. Grow.  Our first release entitled Beyond the Firmament: Understanding Science and the Theology of Creation by Gordon J. Glover highlights our purpose –- well-researched and thought-provoking content from an impressive first-time author.   Our second release entitled Fighting for Peace: Combating Conflict Through Character by Dr. Dennis Morgan also supports our purpose by providing theologically-informed content designed to encourage personal, relational, and spiritual growth.

Watertree Press

As the competition for bookstore shelf space increases, Christian and secular publishers alike are overlooking promising projects because the author lacks a recognized name or the subject has a focused audience.  Watertree Press seeks to provide a platform for these quality niche non-fiction books.  We aim to harness the speed and flexibility afforded by savvy authors and online bookstores to effectively bring such books to market.

Watertree Press is a Christian publisher in the fullest sense of the term. Let us offer two quotes which help explain this concept.  First, as Abraham Kuyper famously declared, "There is not a square inch in the whole domain of human existence over which Christ, who is sovereign over all, does not cry: Mine!'"  Second, G.K. Chesterton said, "If Christianity should happen to be true -- that is to say, if its God is the real God of the universe -- then defending it may mean talking about anything and everything. Things can be irrelevant to the proposition that Christianity is false, but nothing can be irrelevant to the proposition that Christianity is true. [All] things not only may have something to do with the Christian God, but must have something to do with Him if He lives and reigns."

Accordingly, while we're initially working with what would traditionally be considered Christian books, we're not planning to be exclusive to this market.  We have no desire to limit ourselves to the Evangelical subculture or contribute to the ill-conceived notion of a sacred/secular split, so we've chosen to honor God by publishing quality books rather than debating which books are "Christian enough" to warrant such a label.  While most books will be written by and for Christians, others may be more general books that will be valuable resources in their own right but may not be targeted to believers.  If this becomes a problem down the road, then we'll consider multiple imprints or companies, but for the time being we're pursuing a variety of non-fiction books which will be published under the Watertree banner.

At this time, we're not actively seeking book proposals because we have a number of interesting projects already under consideration and we want to ensure that our authors receive personal attention and support.  However, if you're convinced that you've got something that we simply must see, you're welcome to contact us with a very brief pitch.

Thanks for stopping by and please check out Beyond the Firmament and Fighting for Peace!
